(July 2, 2014 – Senoia, GA) Stock car racers, crew members and fans will celebrate the nation’s birthday on Saturday,, July 5th with the 2nd Annual Firecracker 30 taking place at Senoia Raceway’s Bull Ring. The special race will feature competitors from three states battling for the hardware, honor and thousand dollar top prize in the Newnan Bonding B Cadet division. All other weekly divisions will also see action along with a night cap of fireworks honoring the Independence Day holiday.

“Racing and the Indepedance Day holiday weekend have been synonymous for years,” explained promoter Tim Moses. “Last year we added to the tradition by adding the Firecracker 30 and it was one of the best events of the year. This year we have added the fireworks to the show.”

Alabama’s Joseph Brown is the defending champion of the Firecracker 30. Brown was declared the winner after last year’s race winner Marc Gooden was disqualified for being only a couple of pounds light at the scales. Gooden was back at the track two weeks ago preparing for a second run at the holiday special event.

“The Alabama guys are fast,” added Moses. “But, the Georgia boys have been just as fast all season and Senoia Raceway is their home track. It is not going to be a cake walk for anyone this weekend.”

How tough has it been? Current points leader Jason Miller of Jonesboro has not made it to victory lane while eight others have notched wins at the tough 3/8ths mile clay oval. LaGrange’s David Osbahr leads those drivers with four wins, but he has not made it to the winner’s circle since the beginning of June.

The Newnan Bonding B Cadets will qualify for their starting position by running two laps on the clock. This system is only used for the special Firecracker 30 event.

Fans will see a full schedule of racing action with competition in the Jodeco Auto Sales Late Model, Summit Racing Equipment Hobby Stock, Senoia Drug Company Mini Stock, A1 Hydraulics Bomber and Modified Mini. The night will conclude with the fireworks display over turn three of the track.
