SENOIA RACEWAY ANNOUNCES 2019 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

SENOIA RACEWAY ANNOUNCES 2019 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

(Senoia, GA – January 13, 2019)  The highly anticipated schedule of events at Senoia Raceway for the 2019 racing season has been announced and is highlighted by several special events that include the track’s first race of the year on Saturday, March 2nd.  The 3/8ths mile track will celebrate it’s 50th Anniversary year in 2019 with various birthday parties, reunions and annual races along with a strong weekly schedule for area racers to showcase their talents.

“We are excited about the new season,” said Mayes Massey, official spokesperson for the trio of promoters which include his father Bill Massey and long time friend Doug Stevens. “We want to showcase the great history of the track since Hence Pollard and his family built the track and opened it back in 1969.”

The Winter Thaw on Saturday, March 2nd will be the first opportunity for area competitors to take on the unique, slick gumbo clay surface this year.  A full line-up of racing is planned for that evening with the official Season Opener taking place the following weekend.  The second weekend of racing will feature the first race of the year for the popular Super Late Models and a special Legends Cars North/South Shoot-Out with drivers from all over the eastern region expected to battle for the new title.

Professional Flat Track Motorcycles will invade the raceway on Saturday, March 16th for the Inaugural Motorcycle Battle at the Bull Ring. Nationally ranked riders just coming off their season opening weekend in Daytona Beach, FL, are expected to compete on the close confines of this new track on their circuit.

“The flat trackers have never raced on something this slick before,” said Massey. “The pro guys are excited to race on it because they think it will be wide open, but one little mistake will cost several spots that will have to be made up.  They are telling us it should be a wild shoot-out on two wheels.”

The most popular spring weekend will return for it’s fourth straight season the final weekend of March.  The Super Late Models will be back on the schedule for the 4th Annual Spring Nationals.  The will compete once again for the top prize of $10,000.  Former winners of this weekend include Tennessee’s Scott Bloomquist, South Carolina’s Chris Madden and Georgians Donald McIntosh, Michael Page, Jonathan Davenport and Dale McDowell.

Spring will also see an added smash up night with the Monster Truck Spring Smash on Easter weekend Saturday, April 20th.  Families can plan on enjoying a night filled with car crushing fun along with an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids and an old-fashioned demolition derby.  The most recent Monster Truck night at Senoia Raceway featured War Wizard snagging an overhead power line and cutting off the lights to the facility in the final event of the night.

“It was the night that the lights went on in Georgia,” Massey said chuckling. “The crowd went wild and the show was over!”

The Southern All-Stars Super Late Models will return twice this season in May and again in June.  The Billy Clanton Classic is slated for July.  The Senoia Summer Nationals X featuring the USCS Winged Outlaw Sprint Cars is in August and the year-end special Showdown at Senoia has found a new weekend at the end of September.
