(Senoia, GA – July 8, 2013)   Race fans at Senoia Raceway have been patiently waiting for the first round of the Jewel Series to come up on the schedule.  The very popular double feature format scheduled for three different nights on the annual event calendar was rained out in May making this upcoming Saturday, July 13th the opening round for the series within a series.

All six of the track’s weekly divisions will run a pair of feature races awarding season points and purse for each final running order.  The points will also be accumulated to honor drivers earning the most points at only the Jewel Series events each season.  The final night of this year’s series will be on September 7th while the track point’s titles will be finalized two weeks later on September 21st.

Drivers can cash in on the opportunity to double up on the points this weekend.  The points battle is close in most divisions for both the championship honors, as well as, the rookie title.  Senoia Raceway will honor the top drivers in each division at the end of the season and many drivers are within striking distance of a top ten point standing.   This weekend’s double feature format could launch a few into the special awards group.

Saturday night will feature a pair of features for the Jodeco Auto Sales Late Models, Newnan Bonding B Cadets, Summit Racing Equipment Hobby Stocks, Mini Stocks, Bombers and Modified Mini.  Drivers will draw for position with the luck of the draw determining the starting positions for the features.

“If you draw a low number, you will start near the front of the first round of features and then in the back of the second round of features,” explained promoter Tim Moses.  “The line-ups are strictly luck of the draw.  That’s why the fans like the double feature format so much, they will see the best drivers pass cars.”

Pit passes and grandstand ticket prices remain the same for this special double features night and there will not be any entry fees.  Grandstand tickets are $12; children ages 6-12 are $5 while five and under admitted for free.  Pit passes are $25 for adults and $12 for children three through twelve.  Trackside parking is available on a first come, first serve basis and includes admission into the pit area.

The pit gates open at 5pm.  Grandstands open at 6pm.  Hot laps will roll off at 7:30pm and the first green flag flies at 8pm.
