(Senoia, GA)  The final event of the 2013 Senoia Raceway season is in the books as nearly one hundred drivers, crew members and fans gathered for the annual awards ceremony.  The top drivers in each division were awarded trophies and bonus money while others received prestigious accolades for a season’s hard work.

“I appreciate all of the support from our drivers, crew members and their families,” said promoter Tim Moses in an opening welcome.  “It takes dedication and determination to end up on top at the end of the season.  Your hard work is what makes the track successful and I thank you for that.”

The 2013 season point titles went to Glenn Morris in the Jodeco Auto Sales Late Models, Roger Arnett in the Newnan Bonding B Cadets, Clifton Moran in the Summit Racing Equipment Hobby Stocks, Bobby Arnold in the Mini Stocks, Michael Nelms in the Bombers and Joe Spencer in the Modified Mini.  They were joined by drivers finishing in second and third in each division receiving trophies and point fund bonus checks from Moses.

“I want to thank Tim and the staff at Senoia (Raceway) for giving us such a good place to race at,” said Newnan Bonding B Cadet champion Roger Arnett.  “We enjoy racing here and have always been treated the best.”

Arnett, Morris an Joe Spencer doubled up on the season awards as they also took home top honors for the respective divisions in the Jewel Series.  The series within a series title in the Summit Racing Equipment Hobby Stocks went to Gary Brand while Gary Parker took home the honor for the second straight year in the Mini Stocks and rookie Steven Jensen, Jr. bested the Bomber class.

Rookie of the Year honors were awarded to Dusty Jones in the Jodeco Auto Sales Late Models, Jason Miller in the Newnan Bonding B Cadets, Jamie Simmons in the Summit Racing Equipment Hobby Stocks, Alex Rudolph in the Mini Stocks and Randy Cornwell in the Bombers.

A pair of drivers were awarded the Tough Luck award.  George Purgason and Dow Kirkland accepted the awards after tumbling this past season in wild crashes.

“I don’t know if this is an award or not,” said Kirkland while accepting the hardware from Tim Moses.

Dennis Hale and his race team were awarded the Top Dog award for 2013.  This special award is presented to the team that goes the extra mile to maintain the appearance of their racing car and team throughout the season.

The driver showing the greatest tenacity for passing cars and getting to the front of the field was presented the Hard Charger award and defending Newnan Bonding B Cadet champion Thomas Mewborn was the recipient.  Mewborn passed more cars than any other driver in the series this season and used both the high side and low side of the track to garner positions.

The final award was presented to the 2013 Senoia Raceway Sportsman of the Year and Mini Stock competitor Marc Leath was the recipient.  Leath showed an overwhelming support for the track and his fellow racers throughout the season and Moses decided he would be the best person to receive the award this year.

“Marc supported the track whether he was racing or not,” said Moses.  “He would help any driver that needed it and never ask for anything.  He just loves racing.”
